OCEAN RUNNER OFFERS

We offer a wide range of rental options to accomodate up to 10 guests and make your day on the water the best day of your visit to the islands. We are also one of the few companies to offer bareboating for the experienced boater who wants to explore the islands themselves.

Why rent from Ocean Runner?
1. Our rental day is 9-5; when the other guy is packing you up at 3:00 to refuel and be back by 4pm, our guests are still out having fun. We also offer a refueling service for $20 which can save you another 30-40 minutes of your day.
2. Captains - simply put, we have the best in the USVI who know the best places to visit, depending on your agenda.
3. Bareboating - we take the time educate our guests, help with customs paperwork and provide guidance and a chart so even a boater with little experience in the VI's will know where to go (and just as importantly where not to).
4. PowerPlays - one of the finest rental boats in the Caribbean 5. Customer Service - we believe in doing everything within reason to accomodate our guests and make their day with Ocean Runner the highlight of their vacation.

In addition to our powerboat rentals, we have snorkel gear and offer fishing equipment rental, so if you are looking to catch some fish, we can help you out with that as well.

If you are planning a trip to the BVI's a valid passport is required for entry. Customs fees in the BVI's are approximately $20 per person. There is also a small charge to return back through US Customs. We will help you fill out all the required forms.

ITINERARIES

There are so many places to visit in these waters that are available to our guests that often the most difficult decision to make is which places to eliminate from the itinerary. That being said, below is a list of potential day trips that seem to be most popular. Keep in mind that sea conditions may dictate that guests be flexible in their final choices. Details of each destination can be found via the destinations page of this website through the links in the left margin. Of course any combination of the following destinations can be attained, time permitting.

Norman Island/Jost Van Dyke - our most popular day trip; the party destinations.

Smugglers Cove/Jost Van Dyke - a relaxing day at a few of the finest beaches and bars.

Circle Tour of St John - plenty of great snorkeling all around St John.

Norman Island/Cooper Island/Peter Island - snorkel, relax at a secluded beach or an upscale resort.

Virgin Gorda/The Baths/Saba Rock - a full service resort/marina in a unique setting.

Jost Van Dyke - great place to hang out for the day; some snorkeling, mostly just to relax, eat and drink.

North side of Tortola - some nice beaches and snorkeling to be found.

Deserted Isle/Beach Day - there are several secluded spots throughout the USVI's and the BVI's.

We feature Mako Marine Powerboats, one of the worlds finest ocean going powerboats. They are designed with positive floatation and deep v-hulls to easily handle almost all sea conditions. We also offer high performance 33' PowerPlays, which give our customers the ultimate in comfort and speed for trips throughout the islands. Whether for a quick jaunt to Jost Van Dyke or the long haul to Virgin Gorda/The Baths, these boats will give you the best ride and the shortest travel time of any of our vessels. We feature Evinrude E-tec engines, one of the most fuel efficient and reliable outboard motors on the market. All of our vessels have twin engines for safety, speed and comfort except our 22' Mako's.

Cancellation Policy: Cancel by 9AM 24 hours before reservation with no charge. After 9AM a 50% cancellation fee will be charged. We do not charge for weather related cancellations.

About Us
Under New Ownership & Management

Ocean Runner was recently acquired by Steve and Kathy Crum. Steve is a long time boater who left his corporate america software job to move to St John and guide the future of Ocean Runner. A graduate ofthe University of Louisville with an MBA in marketing and finance, Steve's background includes coaching basketball at the high school and collegiate level (Louisville, Tennessee), banking (commercial lending), management at a large soft drink company and software sales/management for a US based software company.

Kathy is the Marketing Director for Ocean Runner. Kathy's background includes many years as Special Events Director for several large department store chains as well as a stint as the Fashion Director/Editor for a large metropolitan city magazine.

Kathy and Steve were married on St John almost 20 years ago and have 2 children.

Manager: Chris Chaffin - Chris has been involved in Ocean Runner for 8 years. A very experienced boater with a 50 ton masters license who is also a scuba instructor/trainer, Chris is involved in every aspect of the business. His wife Ellen runs Low Key Watersports. Their black lab Dakota is a frequent visitor at Ocean Runner.

A few of our Captains

Captain Chris Chaffin: Chris is a certified divemaster and PADI course director and has a 50 ton masters license. He has been on island for over 10 years. Chris has been all over the world on boating and dive trips including shark diving in South Africa. He has also been a captain and dive instructor on dive boats in the Florida Keys.

Captain Chris McCoy: "I grew up on one of the worlds most inland seaports in Lewiston Idaho. I moved to St John from Maui in 1996 where I earned my PADI dive instructor rating. I received my captains license in 1999 and have been running USVI and BVI trips since that time. I've delivered two salboats to Florida from these islands, both as crew, and have spent some time in the Mediterranian as a captain. To me, no where I have been is as beautiful as these 200+ islands here in the Leeward Isles, and I would love to be able to show you this great place we call home."

Captain Jeremy Garza: Jeremy has a 50 ton masters license and has spent the last 13 years living on St. John and sailing the Lesser Antilles. In addition to his talents on the water, Jeremy is an aspiring writer, actor and director. His local cult classic "Fiyah Dog" is a full length feature film about the exploits of a wanna be West Indian gangster. Jeremy is also an accomplished musician and the lead guitarist and singer of Shoot for Tuesday. Check out his web-site www.fiyahdog.com.

Captain Benjamin West: "I was originally born in Virginia, but my family moved down here when I was 2After growing up on St John, I went to the states to earn a degree from Penn State, and returned to run Sadie Sea Charters. After selling the business, I came to work with Ocean Runner so I could charter with smaller groups and be more personal. I have been captaining these waters since I was 18 and frequently show our customers hidden places that most people have never even heard about. I am a 100-ton Master as well as a PADI Rescue Diver. I look forward to meeting your family and friends soon!"

Captain Jason Moody: Born and raised in Tulsa, OK, Jason began sailing at age 6 on his uncle's 32' Choy Lee on Grand Lake in NE Oklahoma. He has done a short stint in boat and watercraft sales giving him knowledge of powerboats. Jason holds a 100 ton masters with a sailing endorsement and is a PADIdive instructor that has certified over 300 students. He is also a nationally registered EMT volunteering with the Islands rescue squad. He has traveled to Honduras and Australia to both sail and dive. He has been sailing and boating in these waters for the past 3 years.

Captain Jimmy Kujawa: Jimmy is a long time St John resident and sailboat captain who has been doingcharter boat trips out of Coral Bay for many years. Because of his easy going style, Jimmy gets lots of repeat requests from our guests. Captain Jimmy will deliver a great day for you along with a ton of local knowledge.
